Way behind on sharing my inktobers 😅
You can see all of the process videos on Instagram (@ kendyllhillegas) and I’ll be suctioning off all of the originals on November 1! The starting bids will be only $35 — definitely my most affordable originals to date. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend so far.🙂💕
I want to say thank you to you!! Tell me how?
Hi, hi, folks,
So, when I first started on Tumblr, I was not working as a professional illustrator. I was at home, mostly stuck in bed, dealing with some major health issues. Everything I drew, and everything I posted was made just for the sake of making (and sharing) something. Not to be overly dramatic, but Tumblr was one of the only bright spots in a very dark time in my life.
Within a year of sharing my work here daily, I had my first commercial clients. It’s 5 years later now, and I’m (thankfully) doing much better health-wise, and am working full-time as a freelance illustrator. Because of that, I can’t always share what I’m working on, and to be honest, I haven’t been as engaged as I’d like to be with the Tumblr community in the last year. There are reasons (having a baby, social media burnout), but that’s not what I’m here to talk about.
Mainly what I want to say is this: Tumblr is where I started, and I want to make you all something to say thank you for all the support over the years, and for being the place where I found my feet when I was in a really unstable time personally.
🚨 So here’s where I need your help! 🚨
I want to make you all something to say thank you. A few ideas I had:
- A tumblr-dedicated, AMA/Q&A
- A tumblr-exclusive livestream
- A gif-based project, either showing progress on a painting or just a straight-up animation with finished illustrations
- Re-draw some old illustrations from back when I started on Tumblr
So, what do you think? What would you most like to see? Please vote in the comments, or add new suggestions, or message me if you want to keep it anonymous.
THANK YOU!!💕🙏🏻☺️
Happy Thanksgiving!🍁🍂 Well be with my family today, eating way too much and playing lots of Set and Bananagrams, so heres a repost of my most recent pumpkin pie illustration. 🥧 And wherever you are, even if youre not celebrating today, please know that this year I am grateful for YOU! Thank you for following, hearting and commenting. Thank you for buying art. Thank you for taking my classes and watching my videos. Thank you for sharing your stories with me. Thank you for always being so kind and encouraging.

Lemon merengue pie for FEAST.
As we head into the holiday season, I’m excited to announce a new series of paintings featuring Boston’s versions of 10 iconic foods. Food is a central part of our lives throughout the year, but its communal pull is even more present during the holidays.
To celebrate this, I’ve connected with some of the city’s most delicious and exciting eateries who’ve agreed to let me create art based on their food. I’m already at work on the series, and today’s #wip is a chickpea fritter sandwich from Clover. It’s essentially their version of falafel.
The illustrations will be shown all together at Gracie’s Ice Cream in Somerville with an opening reception on November 29 at 7pm. You can RSVP to the Facebook event here.
